MIAMI \u2014 This year proved to be quite captivating for the Haitian Music Industry (HMI). From\u00a0Medjy<\/a>\u00a0dropping his surprise project amid\u00a0Enposib<\/a>\u00a0break-up rumors to\u00a0Zafem<\/a>\u00a0building anticipation (and sparking speculation) around their debut album titled\u00a0 \u201cLas<\/a>,\u201d 2023 has undoubtedly gifted us with memorable moments and music to carry forward into the new year.<\/p>\n

Apart from the rumors and social media discussions,\u00a0Roody Roodboy,<\/a>\u00a0Vayb<\/a>,\u00a0Nu Look,<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0Jo\u00e9 Dw\u00e8t Fil\u00e9<\/a> were also among the artists who released projects this year, leaving us with even more music to dance to at the balls or blast in our cars during our daily commutes.<\/p>\n

Following high anticipation, Zafem finally released their debut album this spring titled \u201cLas\u201d \u2014 a solid 16-track project without any features.<\/p>\n

\u201cZafem is the proof that being different is not a bad thing,\u201d\u00a0Samuel Dameus<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Faces of Haiti\u00a0<\/a>tweeted<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a superpower if you know how to use it right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vayb \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cMAYDAY\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Just in time before the summer,\u00a0Vayb<\/a>\u00a0released \u201cMAYDAY<\/a>\u201d \u2014- a 14-track album featuring collaborations with\u00a0Princess Lover<\/a>,\u00a0Baky<\/a>,\u00a0Jude Deslouches<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0K-dilak\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 and kicked it off with its opening track \u201cMAYDAY,\u201d setting the tone for the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe word play on this one is immaculate,\u201d noted international DJ\u00a0The Whiskey Chick<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s such a beautiful song.\u201d<\/p>\n

A fan favorite on the 10-track album is \u201cSopriye\u201d as he sings about an unexpected love that leads to heartbreak.<\/p>\n

Roody Roodboy \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cDous Pou Dous\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Roody Roodboy isn\u2019t one to shy away from provocative lyrics and on \u201cDous Pou Dous\u201d he gets the track steamy by amping up the temperature and embracing his sensual desires.<\/p>\n

Even after more than 20 years, Nu Look continues to stand out as one of the leading bands in the HMI, consistently delivering music that allows us to sing our hearts out, and \u201cMwen De\u00e7u\u201d featuring Medjy is no exception to the band\u2019s excellence.<\/p>\n

Anie Alerte<\/a>\u00a0vulnerably shares her pain and heartaches on \u201cMal,\u201d pouring her emotions into the track for us to deeply feel and resonate with as we sing \u2013 and dance \u2013 along.<\/p>\n

JDF\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0smash hit single \u201cFem Voy\u00e9 \u201d is so good that he followed it up with a part two.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the very first time the album came out, this was it,\u201d said Haitian entrepreneur\u00a0John D<\/a>. The harmony in the chorus is chef\u2019s kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whenever\u00a0Trouble Boy Hitmaker<\/a>,\u00a0Steves J. Bryan<\/a>\u00a0and Baky unite for a collaborative project, they create magic. This time, they tagged singer\u00a0Kenny Haiti\u00a0<\/a>for \u201cXXXX\u201d as an ode to their exes and past relationships.<\/p>\n

\nProudly representing the Haitian-American community,\u00a0Fridayy<\/a>\u00a0showcases his talent by singing in creole on \u201cDone For Me.\u201d Additionally, he includes a feature of his mother, whose heartfelt prayers in creole remind us of the profound influence of faith, praise and worship in a Haitian household.<\/p>\n
